An ARPG from the creators of Diablo and Diablo II
Darkhaven is an action-packed, massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Moonbeast Productions, the creators of Diablo and Diablo II, for desktop gaming. In this open world, you must navigate procedurally generated environments and do everything in your power to survive.
Played in an isometric view, Darkhaven delivers a combat-filled survival experience with its hack-and-slash mechanics, dark fantasy themes, and dungeon-crawler elements. This sandbox title also offers deep character customization, online co-op play, and a moddable world, allowing you to tailor your experience through experiments and choices.
Become a hero
Darkhaven follows the aftermath of a collapsed civilization, where the world and long-dead empire ruins are filled with monsters roaming the expanse, wreaking havoc across the lands. Here, you take the role of someone who must become a hero by venturing into enemy-ridden environments, far from the stronghold of your comfort zone, hunting the traces of evil left behind to free everything and everyone.
Utilize the game’s dynamic combat system to learn and master arcane skills. As you defeat various enemy factions across random biome layouts and handcrafted points of interest, you can uncover unique artifacts with immense power. However, one of its standout features is its deformable world, allowing you to elevate the terrain to form islands, reinforce strategic strongholds, and build everything from simple crossings to fully developed communities.
Currently, the game has a demo mode that lets you experience a limited portion of its core mechanics, offering a hands-on preview of its systems, features, and overall gameplay before committing to the full version. It has one character class available featuring six abilities in three separate skill trees, with the character progression capping out at level eight. However, one notable drawback is the wonky camera and controls.
Gritty and ambitious
Overall, Darkhaven stands out as a gritty, content-rich MMORPG that blends survival tension with satisfying hack-and-slash combat. Its procedural worlds, deep customization, and deformable environments create strong replay value and creative freedom for those seeking a dynamic gameplay experience. While the demo offers a promising glimpse of its systems, the awkward camera and controls might hinder immersion for some players despite its ambitious design.
